IRS Rear Shock Tuning Guide

Watermark

This tuning guide is intended for use with Reaper Suspension’s rear shocks for an IRS application.

Shock Adjustment Basics

  • All adjustments should be made from full tight (fully clockwise) on both compression (C) and rebound/extension (R). If your shock is equipped with a collar style adjuster for the rebound, full tight will also be fully clockwise.
  • The compression adjuster will always be located on the compression head, while the rebound adjuster will always be located on the shaft of your shock. This is true no matter the orientation of your shock.
  • Make adjustments in small increments (2–3 clicks) per pass.

Baseline Settings (Starting/Reset Point)

  • Compression: 10 clicks from full tight
  • Rebound: 15 clicks from full tight

Track Condition Recommended Adjustments

Track Condition Compression Rebound
Decent / Average Track 10C 15R
Hot / Greasy Track 14C 8R
Cool / Tight Track 8C 10R

Tuning Notes

  • Losing traction off the starting line? Tighten compression to help control the initial hit.
  • Losing traction down the track? Tighten rebound to slow how quickly the car returns to ride height.
