3rd Gen Camaro Strut Tuning Guide

Watermark

This tuning guide is intended for use with Reaper Suspension’s front struts for 3rd gen Camaro applications.

Strut Adjustment Basics

  • All adjustments should be made from full tight (fully clockwise) on both compression (C) and rebound/extension (R).
  • The compression adjuster will always be located on the compression head at the bottom of your strut housing, while the rebound adjuster will always be located on the shaft of your shock.
  • Make strut adjustments in small increments (two or three clicks) per pass.

Baseline Settings (Starting/Reset Point)

  • Compression: 6 clicks from full tight
  • Rebound: 15 clicks from full tight

Track Condition Recommended Adjustments

Track Condition Compression Rebound
Decent / Average Track 8C 20R
Hot / Greasy Track 4C 30R
Cool / Tight Track 12C 10R
Exceptional Prep (SGMP, Holly Springs, etc.) 5C 10R or tighter

Tuning Notes

  • If the track is bumpy, increase the travel and loosen both compression and rebound.
  • If the car shakes or spins when the nose sets down, tighten compression.
  • If rebound is too loose, the shocks could extend too fast, disrupting chassis and losing traction.
  • If the front lifts after 150’, loosen rebound and reduce travel. Increasing power earlier may help keep the front down.
