Front Shock Tuning Guide
This tuning guide is intended for use with Reaper Suspension’s front shock applications.
Shock Adjustment Basics
- All adjustments should be made from full tight (fully clockwise) on both compression (C) and rebound/extension (R). If your shock is equipped with a collar style adjuster for the rebound, full tight will also be fully clockwise.
- The compression adjuster will always be located on the compression head, while the rebound adjuster will always be located on the shaft of your shock. This is true no matter the orientation of your shock.
- Make shock adjustments in small increments (two or three clicks) per pass.
Baseline Settings (Starting/Reset Point)
- Compression: 6 clicks from full tight
- Rebound: 15 clicks from full tight
Track Condition Recommended Adjustments
| Track Condition | Compression | Rebound |
|---|---|---|
| Decent / Average Track | 5C | 15R |
| Hot / Greasy Track | 2C | 20R |
| Cool / Tight Track | 8C | 5–8R |
| Exceptional Prep (SGMP, Holly Springs, etc.) | 8C | 5R or tighter |
Tuning Notes
- If the track is bumpy, increase travel and loosen both compression and rebound.
- If the car shakes or spins when the nose sets down, tighten compression.
- Too loose rebound can cause shocks to extend too fast and disrupt chassis stability.
- If the front end lifts after 150’, tighten rebound and consider applying power earlier.
